Often times teaser images can be heavily obscured or provide a viewpoint so abstract you're left wondering just what it is you're looking at. No such problems with Volvo's S60 teaser image though: there's no mistaking the exquisite design and craftsmanship of this new interpretation of Volvo's trademark 'waterfall' central stack.

Volvo teamed up with renowned Swedish glass-works company Orrefors Crystal to design and implement the striking centre piece. No prizes for guessing this is strictly 'concept car material' but the effect is impressive none-the less.

The three piece crystal console stretches from the satellite navigation panel in the dash to the rear armrest. It features adjustable, hidden light sources to that the driver (or passenger) can match the lighting to the mood.

In addition to the hand-crafted crystal, the centre stack also features a rotating shifter (horizontal for fully automatic and vertical for manual mode) and a detachable button panel that doubles as a remote control.

While we often lament the concept-only status of many motor show vehicles, we can still appreciate the skills and design purity involved in their creation. With the full reveal of the Volvo S60 slated for the upcoming Detroit motor show, there's not long to wait before we see if the rest of this S60 lives up to its unique interior.
