Aside from its usual (and comprehensive) range, VW took the covers off two particularly special vehicles - the Pirelli Edition Golf GTi and the Passat CC.
The Pirelli Edition, the final iteration of the current Golf GTi, has been given a performance boost (which seems fair for the venerable and hard-working GTi). The standard Golf GTI’s 2.0 litre Turbo FSI engine has been tweaked and now outputs 169kW at 5500-6300rpm. Torque is also up from 280kw to 300Nm at 2200-5200rpm.
The improvements in power coupled with the six-speed dual clutch (DSG) direct shift gearbox improves the 0-100km/h time from the standard Golf GTI’s time of 6.9 seconds to 6.6 seconds.
The Pirelli part of the equation is in the form of 18×7.5”³ Pirelli alloys shod with Pirelli ‘P Zero’ tyres. The Golf GTI Pirelli will be available in either three or five door versions. A very appealing package. Expect a sub $60k price.
By now, we are all aware of the stunning Passat CC which combines sleek coupe styling with four-door practicality. In the event you're not, you can get up to speed here Passat CC.
