Aside from its usual (and comprehensive) range, VW took the covers off two particularly special vehicles - the Pirelli Edition Golf GTi and the Passat CC.
The Pirelli Edition, the final iteration of the current Golf GTi, has been given a performance boost (which seems fair for the venerable and hard-working GTi). The standard Golf GTI?s 2.0 litre Turbo FSI engine has been tweaked and now outputs 169kW at 5500-6300rpm. Torque is also up from 280kw to 300Nm at 2200-5200rpm.
The improvements in power coupled with the six-speed dual clutch (DSG) direct shift gearbox improves the 0-100km/h time from the standard Golf GTI?s time of 6.9 seconds to 6.6 seconds.
The Pirelli part of the equation is in the form of 18?7.5? Pirelli alloys shod with Pirelli ?P Zero? tyres. The Golf GTI Pirelli will be available in either three or five door versions. A very appealing package. Expect a sub $60k price.
By now, we are all aware of the stunning Passat CC which combines sleek coupe styling with four-door practicality. In the event you're not, you can get up to speed here Passat CC.
