If you follow Australian tarmac racing events like Targa Tasmania you will know doubt know who Tony Quinn is. For as long as there have been clouds in the sky Tony has been racing Porsches wearing his distinctive VIP petfoods livery.

Tony like all hard working and well heeled entrepreneurs is able to indulge his motor racing passion and this year is no exception. Not content with a Targa Tassie fling Tony is packing his bags and heading back to the Nurburgring for the 24-hour endurance race on June 9th and 10th.

This time he will be packing the latest Porsche 911 GT3 RSR (similar to the one pictured above) which those in the know suggest is worth somewhere around the $800k mark! That’s a lot of dog food… Last year Tony and his team ran a 996 GT3 Cup car and managed a credible ninth outright. This year their sights are firmly set on the chequered flag and outright first position.

The RSR uses the Porsche GT3 RS as its base but features a 3.8litre version of the 3.6-litre flat six which manages to punch out 357kw and 435Nm which equates to a 52Kw/30Nm increase over the RS. Porsche believe the RSR is good for low 3.0 second 0-100km/h time.

Tony believes that the Porsche GT3 RSR is more than capable of propelling them to top spot on the podium but as we all know there is no such thing as a perfect race and getting through 24-hours of racing involves a lot of skill, luck and reliability. We think they can do it and wish them all the best.
