The bodywork wizards at Bertone have been busying themselves with the preparation of a bespoke supercar, which is due to be unveiled at the Shanghai auto show later this month.

Little is currently known about the car (provisionally titled 'Project M'), but we do know that car designer extraordinaire Jason Castriota (responsible for the Rolls Royce Hyperion, Ferrari P4/5 and 599 GTB Fiorano) is the man penning the curves.

Bertone's dedicated teaser website for the car is also currently running an online poll asking folks like us what we think forms the basis for their custom-built automobile.

There's the usual suspects on the list, such as Ferrari, Maserati and Lamborghini; but surprisingly enough both Nissan (we presume they're talking about the R35) and the Chevrolet Corvette are available for the choosing.

Is their inclusion a cheeky diversionary tactic by Bertone, or could it mean that even humble Nissans and Chevrolets would make an excellent base for some hyper-exclusive custom coachwork?

Judging by what we've seen and heard in the below teaser vids, our money is on a Corvette ZR-1 being used as the chassis. We'll find out for sure on April 20 when the wraps come off Bertone's new baby.
