A press release from Toyota has revealed the Japanese marque plans to reveal a new battery-powered concept car at next year's Detroit Motor Show. While we've got little to go on at this point, besides the close-up image of the badge, we're thinking Toyota will reveal a Yaris-sized, or smaller, purely electric short-range vehicle.
The new Toyota Prius is expected to make an appearance but the 'FT' moniker, which also appeared on the FT-HS, indicates that the concept FT-EV will be something radically different to the big T's current offerings.
We can't rule out the possibility that the new concept will be a Prius derivative as Toyota is said to be looking to alternative drive-train configurations for its popular hybrid. A Volt-style setup is almost a certainty, where the electric motor does the work and the petrol engine is simply used to generate electricity, but a purely electric model is also plausible.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for any new info... we're expecting more juicy tidbits closer to Detroit. We'll keep you posted.
