It comes as no great surprise that Mitsubishi Australia president, Rob McEniry, has announced that production of the TMR 380 supercharged Magna will not proceed.

First seen at the Sydney motor show in October last year, rumour of the TMR 380’s demise has continually dogged the project.

Mr McEniry has put the decision down to economics and difficulty in gaining ADR compliance, while staying true to the original TMR 380 concept.

The other issue was pricing. With the expected retail price estimated to fall  between $55,000 and $60,000, MMAL was concerned that it was too big an ask for this type of vehicle.

“The TMR 380 will not happen – at least officially – as a volume model in the 380 range,” Mr McEniry announced, adding that Alan Heaphy’s Team Mitsubishi Ralliart (TMR) operation in Melbourne could still build cars to order.
