Wish you had something akin to the GT-R's multifunction display in your hand-me-down Corolla? Keen to see how many G's you can pull around your nearest shopping centre car park? Well, if you've got one of those new-fangled Apple iPhones or iPods and a few spare bucks, you could transform that slab of plastic and metal into a bona-fide performance meter/datalogger and find out.

BunsenTech's Dynolicious application allows iPhone and iPod Touch owners to convert their music-playin', phone call makin' gadget into a reasonably accurate performance meter, allowing the measurement of 0-96kph sprint times, quarter mile elapsed times and trap speeds, braking G, lateral G and - after inputting some info about your vehicle's weight - estimated engine power. Not only that, but it'll display the above information in graph form, an analogue gauge, or in the case of G force, as a vector chart. All performance "runs" can also be assigned to a specific vehicle's profile and saved to the phone's memory to show off to your friends later.

Because it works off the iWhatever's internal accelerometer, there's no need to plug it into any other external device. Just install the software, attach the device to a solid surface and let 'er rip. Easy, and a hell of a lot more user-friendly than that Wiimote performance meter mod from last year.

You can get the Dynolicious application from iTunes for just under $13 USD.
