KICKING OFF FROM this Sunday, Melbourne's Docklands will become the venue for The Car Fair - a used car market for car buyers and private sellers.

Planned for every Sunday, The Car Fair, according to the event's organisers, will enable private sellers to market their vehicles direct to buyers. It will also give buyers the opportunity to view a wide range of used private sale vehicles in the one location.

The Car Fair's organisers describe the event's main advantage as being "the ease of a car dealership with the value of buying privately".

Aaron Hockly, Managing Director of The Car Fair said: "The idea for The Car Fair came when buying my own car earlier this year.

"I thought there had to be a way of combining the value of buying privately with the convenience of a car dealership. That is what The Car Fair offers."

The organisers, perhaps more than a little optimistically, are expecting between 1000 and 1500 vehicles to be displayed at The Car Fair each week once the event is fully underway.

Owners looking to sell their car at The Car Fair pay a registration fee of between $9.95 and $29.95. Discounted fees are available to buyers who pre-register before the event at thecarfair.com.au.

To assist buyers make an informed decision, the market offers on-site vehicle inspection services, and vehicle finance providers will also be available.

The Car Fair is a weekly event, beginning this Sunday the 4th of October and running from 10am to 2pm. It is located at 453-507 Docklands Drive, on the site previously occupied by Cirque du Soleil.
