INDIAN CARMAKER TATA has today revealed new details and images of the upcoming Europe-specific Tata Nano Europa.

Offering more upmarket features than the regular Indian-market Tata Nano, which sells for around AU$3590, the Nano Europa is expected to sell for between $7000 to $9000 in Europe.

The Nano Europa will be powered by a 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol engine, developing around 45kW. In India, the regular Nano draws power from a two-cylinder petrol engine developing 25kW and 48Nm of torque.

The all-steel Nano Europa will see a five-speed transmission replacing the Indian version's four-speed.

Measuring just 3300mm long, the Europa is significantly shorter than most 'supermini' cars currently offered in Europe.

Sitting on 14-inch alloy wheels, the Nano Europa's standard features include independent rear suspension, ABS, traction control, electric power steering and twin airbags - all items that would be considered 'luxury' on the regular Nano, and some of them simply not an option at all.

The Tata Nano Europa is expected to go on sale in Europe sometime in 2011. Other international markets are reportedly under consideration, but Tata has offered no firm details on overseas schedules.
