Suzuki are on a roll at the moment with their enormously successful Swift and the more recently released SX4 proving very popular in Australia. A combination of excellent dynamics, build quality and competitive pricing has made Suzuki’s new models unbeatable value.

As if that wasn’t enough there is now a whisper that Suzuki are considering producing a road going version of their wild WRC SX4 (pictured). The WRC version of the SX4 features AWD and is powered by a 238kW/320hp engine. According to the guys over at Pistonheads, Suzuki insiders consider the SX4 a real competitor for the Subaru Impreza WRC.

The road going version of the SX4 WRC car is rumoured to combine somewhere in the vicinity of 160kW/215hp with AWD, big brakes, performance suspension and of course a WRC inspired body-kit.

With Subaru having recently beaten their new Impreza with the bland stick and shocking many WRX fans with the result, Suzuki could be getting set to provide the inspiration that this segment of the market craves. A hot looking WRC inspired AWD turbo rocket priced to please would be just what the doctor ordered for the small car performance sector and oddly reminiscent of the original Impreza WRX formula...
