Suzuki has today unveiled a turbocharged version of its recently-launched Kizashi sedan, dubbed Concept Kizashi Turbo.
Thanks to the addition of a turbocharger, the Kizashi's 2.4 litre petrol engine sees power boosted from 131kW to 179kW, while torque grows from 230Nm to 330Nm.
“Customers have been asking about a turbocharged version of this car since the original Concept Kizashi was unveiled at Frankfurt more than three years ago,” Suzuki Australia General Manager Tony Devers said.
“The race-bred Kizashi chassis was always designed to handle more power and we are excited about the potential for a high performance version."
“We worked closely with our good friends from Road Race Motorsports in the US to produce a concept car with the potential to attack the medium car performance market."
Road Race built a similar concept for Suzuki in the US earlier this year, with a larger turbo contributing to a (less-production-friendly) output of 215kW.
Based on the range-topping Kizashi Sport AWD, the Concept Kizashi Turbo gains a lower ride height, upgraded brakes and a front strut brace for increased rigidity. Enkei 19-inch RPF1 wheels prop up each corner, wrapped in 40-series Pirelli rubber.
Devers said Suzuki would use the 2010 Australian International Motor Show to gauge customer reaction to a high performance Kizashi.
“We will closely monitor customer feedback on the concept car and welcome input at facebook.com/suzukiaustralia”
Unfortunately, performance figures for the Concept Kizashi Turbo have not been revealed.
