Subaru gave us a good look at their new 2008 WRX STi and while many find the styling hard to come to terms with, the STi appears to have finally grown up. With flared wheel arches and a quad exhaust system, the STi looks like it means business, but not in the 'boy-racer' way of previous versions.

The 2008 WRX may be considered a little softer than earlier models but it is still a seriously fast machine. Power is up 7.3 percent and torque has been increased by 3.8 percent. The 0 to 100 kmh sprint is dispatched in 5.2 seconds – 0.2 seconds quicker than the model it replaces.

There are now two variants on offer, an entry level model and the Spec R, which comes with lightweight BBS wheels and leather Recaro seats.

Pricing for the standard car starts at $59,990 while the Spec R variant has a RRP of $64,990.

Both variants feature the 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer engine, good for 221kW.
