FOLLOWING NISSAN'S LEAD, Subaru has launched its own online on-road pricing calculator, enabling prospective buyers to work out the 'drive-away' purchase cost of a new Subaru.

Like the pricing calculator launched by Nissan last week, Subaru's system tailors pricing according to the buyer's postcode.

Subaru's on-road pricing calculator takes the base price of each model and adds the relevant registration, compulsory third-party insurance, stamp duty and dealer delivery costs for the buyer's state and region.

It then shows the drive-away price reflecting what a private buyer would pay to buy a car off the showroom floor.

Designed to conform to the ACCC's ruling earlier this year that car manufacturers only advertise on-road pricing, car shoppers can now establish a drive-away price on a new Subaru without having to ring their local dealers.

Subaru stresses that its online on-road pricing system isn't relevant to business or government buyers, and that all prospective Subaru owners should contact their dealer to confirm the advertised price.
