Spyker Supercars Owner Survives Assassination Attempt

Details are starting to emerge of an attempted assassination attempt on Alexander Antonov, the Russian banker and owner of flamboyant Dutch supercar maker Spyker.

Last Wednesday the Russian billionaire, who is also chairman of the Konvers Banking Group, was shot while leaving his Moscow home.

His personal bodyguard was also injured in the attack.

The would-be assassin fired eighteen shots:  five hit Antonov in the stomach, one in the chest and another in the finger. His bodyguard was shot in the leg.

Both men are in intensive care, but their injuries are described as non life-threatening.

Antonov’s wife heard the shots and called police while another security guard drove him to hospital.

The shooting is believed to be linked to Antonov’s business dealings. Police have begun an investigation, but at this stage have made no arrests.

For some reason I can’t seem to stop Sharon Stone's eternal words from Basic Instinct 2 running through my head: “I don’t drive a Spyder anymore. I drive a C8 Laviolette. It’s lighter, faster… swims better.” Don’t ask me how that’s connected, though.
