The official launch of the new Generation Skyline GTR is in October of this year at the Tokyo Motor Show. Despite this being six months away further details and photos continue to trickle through.

Despite the half hearted attempt to conceal the 'look' of the next gen GTR you can see that it is well proportioned and has that certain something going on...

It has now been confirmed that the new Skyline GTR will be powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6. The new engine is believed to be based on the HR-series VQ35 engine found in the V36 Skyline. Power and torque figures are not known outside of Nissan at this stage but given Nissan are benchmarking the GTR against the current Porsche 997 turbo I would expect it have in excess of 350kW's.

The new Skyline GTR has been seen testing at the Nurburgring as well as Laguna Seca in California. Nissan have confirmed that the GTR will be sold in the USA for the first time.

Rumour is that there will be two gearbox options. A 'normal' 6-speed manual and a sequential 7-speed manual.

Recent photos of the new Skyline GTR testing at 'the Ring' have really suprised me. I wasn't a big fan of the GTR concept unveiled a few years ago however the actual car in the flesh has serious presence and looks stunning. Lets hope they haven't done something weirdly Japanese with the front. Looking at the pictures I think common sense may have prevailed.

The only remaining concern is what the front looks like. Hopefully they didn't let too many saki soaked Japanese computer boffins near the design department when the GTR was being finalised

Godzilla looks set to make a huge comeback and I predict that this car will really give the likes of Porsche, BMW and Audi a real shake-up. The next generation BMW M3 and current Audi RS4 and 911 range will struggle to keep up when Godzilla is finally let off the chain.

October can't come quickly enough.
