Skoda Fabia Super 2000 Tested by Carlos Sainz

We have previously introduced the Å koda Fabia Super 2000 which was reported to have begun testing earlier this year. Å koda Auto have just officially announced that testing continues with a recent Austrian test session being conducted by a team that included world rally champion Carlos Sainz.

The test was not Sainz's first experience of driving a Å koda – the Spanish driver won the Shalymar Rally (near Madrid) with a Fabia in the autumn of last year, and Sainz felt like trying out the new version of the Fabia Super 2000. It's alright for some!

“I have got to know the Å koda Fabia really well, and I can see a huge step forward as far as the development of the competition version is concerned“, said Sainz, authorised to take part in this test by Volkswagen Motor Sport Department Director Kris Nissen.

Designed to be used in the Super 2000 production based race category, the Super 2000 is based on the second-generation Fabia and, in compliance with the FIA regulations, is equipped with a two-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine, a six-speed sequential transmission and a four-wheel drive system with three mechanical differentials.
