Skoda has passed on the first official images and details on its new Fabia Scout, which is scheduled to be released at the Geneva Motor Show.

Despite sharing the same front-end design cues and blackened A-pillars as the regular Fabia, the Fabia Scout is a different beast. There's a unique front bumper, an extended rear cabin, taller ride height and a protective skirt of plastic cladding on the lower surfaces of the car.

Light-weight 16-inch ‘Arktos' alloy wheels, fog lights, and tinted windows round out the rest of the changes.

Skoda will offer four engines for the Fabia Scout, which will include an even mix of petrol and diesel variants. The base model petrol engine is a 1.4 litre four-cylinder producing 63kW (85bhp) and returning an economy figure of 6.5L/100km, while the 1.6 litre unit generates a sprightly 77kW (105bhp) yet still manages to achieve a healthy 6.9 l/100km.

Fuel economy is better for the diesel units with the 1.4 litre mill achieving 4.6 l/100km and the 1.9 litre coming in at 4.9 l/100km, while power for each is 59kW (80bhp) and 77kW (105bhp) respectively. Interestingly, no torque figures for the diesel engines were released but we'll keep our eyes open as Geneva draws near.

While no interior images are available, the Scout is expected to be typically Skoda with some extra trimmings such as stainless pedals, floor mats and Scout logos throughout.

The Skoda Fabia Scout is scheduled to arrive in European dealerships around May so expect pricing to be revealed at launch at Geneva.
