It may be nothing more than the wild imaginings of an aspiring automotive designer, but the Chevrolet Volt-based Saab Fashionista concept could be 'just what the doctor ordered' for the ailing Swedish automaker.

Mayeul Walser, a 24 year-old design student at French creative college Creapole-ESDI, designed the Fashionista as a 2+2 sports coupe, with its name drawn from the car’s fashion industry inspirations: Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld.

The ultimate aim for the Fashionista was to design a sports coupe that borrows the clean and simple lines of sci-fi movie cars, while taking inspiration from the fashion icons.

Mayeul envisions a V6 petrol engine replacing the regular four-cylinder unit attached to the Volt electric motor, providing a total output of around 223kW.

Of course, this setup would alter the Volt system somewhat, as the four-cylinder engine exists to charge the electric motor, not motivate the car itself.

As concepts go, the Fashionista delivers a clever merging of futuristic concept styling with only a short step to production-ready practicalities.
