Russia’s Lena Highway: Australia, We’ve Got It Good

The next time you’re stuck on one of your city’s hellish freeways in peak hour, spare a thought for the unfortunate Russian citizens making a trip along the Lena Highway.

Stretching 1235km (767 miles) across the former communist nation, the Lena Highway – as near as we can figure out – seems to be little more than an unsealed road that divides its time between states of navigable dirt, and impassable mud.
