There’s not much that can be said here about the 745kW (1000hp) Bugatti Veyron that hasn’t been said before. If you’re a car enthusiast of even the lowest order – or simply a Top Gear fan – you’ll already know everything you need to know about it.

But, wait.  Apparently there’s a new one on the way.

The Bugatti Veyron Centenaire, pushing some 1007kW (1350hp) through what must now be recognised as an indestructible body cloned from the flesh of Superman himself, is supposedly set to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

It’s been 100 years since Ettore Bugatti first opened the doors on his car company and it’s rumoured that, to celebrate the fact, Bugatti – or more so, its owner Volkswagen – has seen fit to build this special Centenaire version of the Veyron.

With Bugatti set to replace the Veyron in 2012, the Centenaire would certainly be a fitting salute to this amazing machine, and the man who started the dream a hundred years ago.

With 1007kW bursting through the Veyron’s quad-turbo W16 engine, the Centenaire edition should be good for a 420km/h top speed.

To give you an idea of how raucously insane the Centenaire ought to be, going by the stats alone, the TMR calculators melted when we fed in the vital details:

1007kW + 1888kg = an estimated 1.55 second 0-100km/h run and an 8.4 second 0-400m (.25 mile) pass.

If you’ve got any part of your spine left after that, you’re as much a superman as the car.
