RUF are probably best known for their famous â€˜CTR Yellow Birdâ€™ from the late eighties. An extensively modified 1987 Carrera 3.2 formed the basis of the Yellowbird and you could tell because it still looked like the donor car...more or less.

It seems that the last twenty years has seen the game move on a little. RUF are no longer satisfied with modifying a Porsche by adding a new front bar slapping on a different spoiler and winding the wick up on the engine. Instead they take the bonnet and doors from a 911 Turbo and build a mid engined supercar around them.
Quite amazing when you think that this car was basically built from scratch and not by Porsche
The RUF CTR3 was recently debuted at the opening of RUFâ€™s new Bahrain facility. Higher oil prices obviously mean that the Sheiks are cashed up and shopping for supercars.
The RUF CTR comes equipped with a somewhat modified Porsche 3.8-litre turbo-charged flat six that produces 522Kw and 657Nm. Drive runs through a 6-speed sequential manual gearbox to the rear wheels. The RUF CTR weighs in at 1400kgs and will sprint from 0-100km/h in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed of 375 km/h.
Priced at EUR380,000 it is probably considered cheap by most Oil Barons given the cost of Enzos and Veyrons these days. Perfect first car for one of the sons though.
