FOLLOWING A partnership with the Victorian Government signed in August, The Renault-Nissan Alliance has today announced it will work with the NSW Government to explore the development of a Zero Emission Vehicles program.

Teams of representatives from the New South Wales Government and from Nissan will work together to explore ways of cooperating in promoting the use of electric vehicles in the State.

"Today, Nissan is proud to partner with the New South Wales government through the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding," Dan Thompson, Nissan Australia CEO said.

"Technology for zero emissions mobility is a reality and we are prepared to proactively explore ways to bringing this technology to the market with collaboration from the government. "

Mr Thompson said that Nissan is focused on the need for sustainability and limiting CO2 emissions, and the company's partnership with the NSW and Victorian government is a key part of its plans.

"Our company is leading the world in the design and production of a battery-powered family-sized car and we aim to have this vehicle on sale in Australia by 2012," Mr Thompson said.

The Renault-Nissan Alliance has formed partnerships with governments in Japan, the US, Europe and Asia.
