It hasn’t taken long for the R35 GT-R to find its way to Oz, with a number being imported for motorsport purposes. These private imports will never be eligible for road registration but they are set to liven up the local motorsport scene.

The car pictured (another one is on the way) is going to be campaigned by Team Donut King which means it qualifies for the unfortunate but distinctive bright pink livery. Dubious colour aside, this will be one of the first R35 GT-R’s to hit the tarmac in anger in Australia. The chaps who brought this car to Australia managed to squeeze in a shake down run at Sydney’s Oran Park and the general feeling is that the R35 GT-R is “impressive to say the least” .

The ultimate destination for this GT-R will be this year’s Targa Tasmania. The 2008 Targa promises to be one of the most eagerly anticipated events for those with a penchant for import and Japanese performance, pitching the GT-R against the usual exotic contenders from Porsche to Lamborghini. Personally, I think the R35 GT-R will prove to be the car to beat, given the right driver.

Further sightings of R35 GT-R’s in Australia include a black example spotted on the wharf in Perth and the example above sporting trader plates and snapped filling up at a service station in Wahroonga, Sydney.
