Porsche have announced that their type 997 (911) has broken a new record. Not only is it fast on the road but it is fast out of the factory gate as well with the 100,000th 997 recently being rolled out the door.

The 997 first began production in April 2004 which means that this is the fastest production of any 911 variant ever. How does 0-100,000 in 39 months sound?

The 100k 997 shown above is being wheeled out the door on its way to a customer in Germany. Not that anyone will care next week but it is a Guards Red 911 Carrera S…manual.

So its fair to assume that the current global economic boom is still chugging along and that Porsche have their manufacturing ability down to a fine art. We would expect to continue to see records being broken in the performance, prestige and luxury vehicle segments for some time to come.
