With all of the fuss surrounding the Frankfurt Motor Show it is easy to forget that we have the Australian International Motor Show firing up on October 11. Hot off the press is the news that Maserati will be featuring its stunning new Pininfarina-styled GranTurismo four-seat sports coupe in Sydney this year.

The GranTurismo features the usual Maserati (Ferrari designed) 4.2-litre V8 engine that produces 405bhp (around 302kW) at 7100rpm, and 460Nm at 4750rpm. Its maximum speed is 285km/h, and it will accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds.

The GranTurismo uses ZF’s sensational six-speed automatic gearbox which features fully adaptive software that adjusts the gear changes to the driving style and conditions as well as steering wheel mounted paddle shifts.

"It borrows from historic Maseratis - especially in the concave front grille slats which are reminiscent of 1940s and 1950s-style race cars, and tri-vents on the front guards - but at the same time the lines are very modern. It bears a large rear hip and has a sporting, contemporary stance", said Maserati's Australia and New Zealand general manager, Edward Butler.

With more than 100 Australian customers already in the queue, the GranTurismo is set to be one of the most successful Maseratis ever sold in Australia. We’ll be in Sydney to bring you more pictures of one of the worlds most beautiful cars.
