German brand Opel has been cleared in the French consumer authorities’ diesel emissions investigation launched following Volkswagen’s ‘dieselgate’ disaster.

That’s good news for Opel following its sale to the French PSA Group.

According to industry paper Automotive News the French investigation “did not bring to light any evidence of fraud” on the part of Opel.

However, the French probe has seen files relating to possible emissions fraud sent to prosecutors relating to Fiat-Chrysler, Renault and the PSA Group.
