Online Ticket Sales For Melbourne Motor Show Booming

We're getting pretty pumped about the upcoming Melbourne International Motor Show and, if the strong online ticket sales are any indication, we're not alone.

The growing popularity of online ticketing, and the benefits at the gate - like, no waiting in queues - has meant that online ticket sales for the last Motor Show in Melbourne before it moves to an alternating event with the Sydney Motor Show, are off to a cracking start.

Motor Show director Russ Tyrie outlined the benefits the system offers:

"Patrons who buy their tickets online have a dream run getting into the Show - they just print out their bar-coded ticket at home, get it scanned at the entry door and they're in."

"It also reduces the number of people buying their tickets at the venue instead, which means shorter queues - and the online booking process is quick, easy and secure," Mr Tyrie said.

The Melbourne Motor Show is organised and promoted by the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), through its dealer division the Australian Automobile Dealers Association. This will be the last annual Motor Show in Melbourne before it moves to a biennial event, alternating with the Sydney Motor Show under the banner of The Australian International Motor Show - in Melbourne one year, Sydney the next.

It is widely expected that the details of a joint venture agreement between FCAI and VACC will be announced in coming days. While details are yet to be confirmed, this expected new joint venture entity, owned jointly by FCAI and VACC, will have the responsibility for the running of both Melbourne and Sydney International Motor Shows, alternating between Melbourne and Sydney.
