Reports swirling through the 'intertubes' this morning indicate that Nissan, not content with the weapon it has already created, is busily working away on a Series II GT-R. Said to feature a handful of upgrades and revisions, the Series II will improve upon the current GT-R's formidable arsenal.

First and foremost, the Series II will receive a slight bump in power, which will climb by 5.0hp from the current model. "Nissan" lettering will replace the "Brembo" text on the brakes, the front license plate-holder will be removed and the white paint option will be revised (from QX1 to QAB called Storm White). Check out the high-res image below to see the comparison.

Furthermore, an increase in fuel tank capacity, up from 71 litres to almost 74 litres, will combine with a slight improvement in fuel consumption: down to 11.7 l/100km from a touch over 12 l/100km to improve the GT-R's range and demand on the hip-pocket.

Unfortunately the universe must stay in balance and to that end the Series II GT-R will be priced approximately 5% higher than the current model. It is expected that the increase will flow through to all markets.

While the current model GT-R is far from dated (heck it's only just landed here), Nissan obviously feels there's room for further refinement of its highly-acclaimed creation. With a host of manufacturers gunning for the GT-R, Nissan is not about to rest on its laurels.
