Tesla may have gotten the jump on the industry with its Roadster electric sports cars, but the establishment isn't far behind. Take Nissan's new electric sports car concept for example.

Dubbed ESFLOW, Nissan's latest concept in its Zero Emission project is a performance-focused two-seater. It is driven by technology developed for the LEAF, the brand's small electric hatch that is slowly making its way into markets around the world.

Nissan hasn't released all of the concept's technical details yet, but it has confirmed that the ESFLOW is rear-wheel-drive, powered by an electric motor positioned at each rear wheel.

The ESFLOW's body is made from a rollbar-integrated aluminium chassis and wrapped in a composite shell, while its laminated lithium batteries are mounted to maintain a low centre of gravity.

Nissan claims the sporty EV will hit 100km/h in under five seconds, with a driving range of more than 240 kilometres.
