Nissan Clocks Unofficial 7:26.7 Lap Time at The ‘Ring

The lap times continue to fall at the Nurburgring, with Nissan's R35 GT-R having reportedly reeled-off a blisteringly-quick 7:26.7. This time, though unofficial, is just four-tenths behind the more powerful (but rear-wheel-drive only) Corvette ZR1.

Porsche has also joined the mix by also announcing an unofficial 7:40 lap time for the 2010 911 GT3. This seems off the pace, but remember the naturally-aspirated GT3 is packing less power than both other cars.

Reports indicate that Nissan is not finished yet, with more track time scheduled. The clear target is the ZR1, but at its current pace the GT-R is only a second off the time set by the Ferrari Enzo as well.

Should Nissan manage to best the ZR1, we'd expect to see both Porsche and Chevrolet turn up the wick on their respective contenders.

It might be irrelevant though with Nissan still yet to post its R35 GT-R SpecV times, while Porsche is yet to punt the more potent twin-turbo 2010 GT2 around the track.

We'll be keeping tabs on the latest round of battles for 'Ring supremacy. Check back for the latest updates.
