IN RESPONSE TO the ACCC's ruling earlier this year requiring that fees and charges be included in the advertised price of new cars, Nissan Australia has launched an online pricing calculator to help buyers estimate a 'drive away' price.

The new rules, aimed at offering buyers a clearer idea of what they should expect to pay at the end of a new car purchase, have made local product pricing harder for manufacturers to plan.

Nissan's online pricing calculator, available on each model page of its website, makes it easier for car shoppers to get an estimated 'drive away' price relevant to the area in which they intend to purchase.

“Nissan continues to be innovative when is comes to customer relationships and this latest initiative creates another level of convenience.” Nissan Australia's Andrew Holbrook said.

The Nissan Pricing Calculator takes into account the various statutory charges around Australia, as well as dealer delivery fees and whether the purchase is for business or private purposes, when calculating a price.

The calculator will work out an average estimate for each individual State/Territory based on the following components:

  • RRP or for Business reg “ABN” pricing for Navara and Patrol C/C
  • Dealer Delivery
  • Statutory Charges and whether business or private registration including LCT and any other stated variable charges.
  • CTP is based on an average of high and low risk insurance areas and Private/Business rates for individual States and Territories.
