VW Caddy Beach launches in Australia
Volkswagen has announced details on its new compact camper.
Building from the brand’s seven-seat Caddy, the special edition Caddy Beach comes fully equipped as a five-seater when you need it to be, with the ability to transform into a small camper van when you want it to be.
Based off the Caddy Maxi Trendline, the Caddy Beach loses the third row of seating, in favour of a fold-out bed as well as storage for a 2.3 x 2.0m tent, table and two chairs.
Powered by Volkswagen's 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine, it produces 92kW of power and 220Nm of torque, available only with a seven-speed dual-clutch auto.
It also gets bi-Xenon headlights, smartphone mirroring, adaptive cruise control, reversing camera, seven option colour palette to choose from and more.
Only 120 special edition units are on the way, with a drive-away price of $46,990.
While the Caddy Beach was the only model on show at the Sydney launch this week, the car maker announced plans for another special edition due soon.
Volkswagen Australia confirmed its next special edition will be a Multivan Black Edition, set to arrive in March with a ‘mid-60s’ price point, LED headlights, black roof and more.
Stay tuned to Drive for a comprehensive review on the Caddy Beach coming soon.
