Subaru reveals STI Forester in Japan
Subaru has confirmed an STI-tweaked version of its new-generation Forester will make its debut at the annual Tokyo Auto Salon next month.
The Japanese brand has issued two images - but little technical information - on its dressed-up soft roader, which is unlikely to be offered outside of Japan.
Based on the domestic-market only e-Hybrid version of Drive's best small SUV of 2018, the STI Forester features an array of body enhancements to give it a sportier appearance, including a lower front bumper, side skirts and a rear bumper valance that all feature a flourescent yellow highlight.
While there is unlikely to be any performance upgrades to the powertrain, Subaru says the car features 19-inch alloy wheels and Brembo brakes and modified suspension settings for increased handling.
Alongside the Forester, STI has also tweaked the Impreza hatch, although it isn't the new-generation WRX that is anticipated to debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show later in the year. Instead, like the soft roader, it features a host of cosmetic upgrades - including a twin-tip centre-mounted exhaust, and a two-tone black-on-white colour scheme.
