Limited edition Mazda MX-5 coming to Australia
Mazda has unveiled its Anniversary Edition MX-5, celebrating 30 years of the cult favourite.
The covers came off at the Chicago auto show this week, revealing bright Racing Orange paintwork and exclusive Rays forged alloy wheels.
Each special edition will gets its own “30th Anniversary” numbered build plate as well as Recaro sports seats and Alcantara trim on the dash, seat inserts and door trims.
And, although there’s no mention of increased power from the standard 2.0-litre engine, it does come with Brembo brakes up front, NISSIN brakes at the back and Bilstein suspension.
In keeping with a Racing Orange theme, the colour is featured some more on the seat stitching, vent surrounds, gear shift stitching and on the brake calipers.
Mazda says sales will be limited to just 3,000 units worldwide in both soft-top and hard-top models.
Of those, Australia’s allocation consists of just 30 units - all in soft-top Roadster GT spec.
And getting your hands on one will be even trickier, that is unless you are one of Mazda’s loyal MX-5 owners who will be contacted via e-mail and given first preference on a “first come first served basis”.
Mazda is yet to confirm pricing for the special edition model.
