BMW has introduced a special edition M140i hatch in celebration of its last six-cylinder, rear-wheel drive 1-Series before it turns into a front-drive hatch.

The M140i Finale Edition gets a raft of extra features both inside and out as well as special edition badging to tell it apart.

The German car maker says customers can pre-order the vehicle now, but it won’t be available until June, asking $62,990 plus on-roads.

That money brings extras like 18-inch M light alloy wheels painted orbit grey, wireless smartphone charging, an electric sunroof, blacked-out grille, headlights and taillights, chrome-black tailpipes and metallic paint on top of the M140i’s already generous equipment.

BMW says it will offer two more wheel options for customers wanting something different - a light double-spoke alloy wheel in either jet black or jet black with silver highlights.

The Finale Edition gets the same 3.0-litre turbocharged six-cylinder engine that comes mated to an eight-speed transmission, capable of 0-100km/h in just 4.6 seconds.
