Lotus has some good news for those in the market for a dedicated track car, hot of the production line. We were first introduced to the Lotus 2-Eleven at last years Geneva Motor Show and finally saw it in the flesh at the 2007 Sydney Motor Show. Lotus have now introduced a cut price entry-level version, for those with the desire but more meagre means.

The entry-level 2-Eleven is fitted with the same 141kW/189hp as fitted to the Elise R, and while it might be a 47kW drop over the current 2-Eleven you can still expect thrills aplenty. Weighing in at only 720kg the entry-level 2-Eleven is capable of sprinting from 0-100km/h in a very brisk 4.3 seconds.

Lotus also offer the ability to option-up the basic 2-Eleven with a number of factory fitted extras. You can choose from two different limited-slip differentials, four-piston front brake callipers, a carbon-fibre tonneau cover, a removable racing steering wheel and a FIA approved 70-litre bag style fuel tank.

For those chasing track glory, there are also an Aero and Sport options pack available. The Sport pack sees the fitment of Ohlins two-way adjustable shock-absorbers while the Aero pack features an adjustable carbon-fibre rear wing and an extended composite front splitter.

The entry-level 2-Eleven will retail in the UK for €34,695 (excluding taxes), which represents a significant saving over the current 2-Eleven’s €49,573 sticker.
