Kia is reportedly preparing an all-new concept car for the upcoming Detroit auto show that’ll be based upon its recently-launched Soul light crossover. They aren’t saying just what’s been changed for the concept, but the above teaser image gives us one mighty hint – Kia’s Soul concept will only have two doors.

It’s that thick, swept-back B-pillar that gives the game away. On the production Soul, that shape appears on the D-pillar - the rearmost extremity of the car. The lines above suggest that, in the concept’s case, the cabin terminates behind the driver’s seat. But what happens after that? Will there be a ute-like cargo bed, a Jeep style open rear seat section, or will it simply be a short-wheelbase model? Heck, some have even posited that the concept will boast some kind of panel van-esque rump.

Pending further imagery from Kia it could realistically be any one of those ideas. We’ll find out for sure on January 11, when the Soul concept gets its official unveiling at Detroit.
