Volkswagen has expanded its Tiguan lineup to include a new Sportline variant, lowering the price of the most powerful 162TSI engine option.
With a starting price from from $45,990 before on-road costs, the Sportline slots into the range beneath the current $48,490 Highline 162TSI.
Power comes from the Golf GTI-derived 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which produces 162kW and 350Nm and is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch auto that delivers power to all four wheels.
Standard features for the 162TSI Sportline include 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, chrome roof rails, black cloth and microfleece (suede-look) upholstery, navigation accessed through a 8.0-inch touchscreen that is also compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Volkswagen has also equipped the Sportline with a number of safety features including rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, traffic jam assist as part of the adaptive cruise control system, and emergency assist.
