Victoria gets fastest charging stations
Interstate trips for motorists travelling in an electric car is about to get easier.
By the end of the month, two electric vehicle charging stations are expected to be in operation in regional Victoria.
Said to be the fastest electric vehicle charging stations in the country, offering up to 400km of range in 15 minutes, according to the Australian company that developed them.
The Victorian Labor Government will provide funding of $1 million to Aussie business Chargefox to develop the charging stations in Euroa and Barnawartha North.
Placed strategically to allow interstate motorists easy access, the sites are said to boost tourism in Victoria and benefit local economies.
The investment is part of the Labor Government’s legislation for net zero emissions by the year 2050.
Expected to be in operation by the end of October, Chargefox is set to match the government’s funding to build the stations which will dramatically reduce charging time for drivers.
Northern Victoria MP Jaclyn Symes says the ultra-rapid charging sites will bring more tourists to our towns and help drive down emissions.
“We’re bringing the world’s best technology to regional Victoria and supporting local businesses along the way,” says Symes.
