Toyota will recall nearly 50,000 vehicles to inspect repair work surrounding Takata airbags.

The manufacturer says “some replacement passenger's front air bag inflators may have been incorrectly installed” in Corolla and Rukus models built between 2007 and 2012.

Vehicles affected by the issue may not inflate airbags correctly during a collision.

Toyota will contact customers impacted by the problem. Each vehicle will require a 15 minute inspection, with repairs to cars requiring re-installation of airbag inflators likely to take 1.5 hours.

The manufacturer will complete recall work at no cost to customers.

While this is not the first time Toyota has had to issue multiple airbag recalls for invidiual vehicles, it is not the only manufacturer to experience the issue.

Subaru previously recalled some 2004-07 Impreza models to address concerns replacement airbag inflators “may have been installed incorrectly”.
