SsangYong is serious about its return to Australia in November 2018.
The South Korean company’s second crack at the local car market is anchored by four new models featuring drive-away pricing and autonomous emergency braking technology for every vehicle in the range.
A seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty with capped price servicing and roadside assistance also underpins the new SsangYong Tivoli and Tivoli XLV compact SUVs, the new Ssangyong Rexton family SUV and new Ssangyong Musso ute.
Tim Smith, managing director for SsangYong Australia, says it was important to have autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warning systems included as standard across the range.
“We know that safety is a key feature for Australian customers and we do not want to make AEB or FCW an option or extra cost for a customer wanting to choose any model in our all-new range,” he said.
“We want customers to know their most precious cargo is afforded the maximum protection, no matter which model they choose.”
The range starts with the compact Tivoli EX SUV which costs $23,490 drive-away in manual form, bringing kit such as Apple CarPlay, a reversing camera and 1.6-litre petrol engine with 94kW of power and 160Nm of torque.
Range-topping Tivoli models bring all-wheel-drive traction, an 84kW/300Nm diesel engine and automatic transmission for $33,990 drive-away, or $34,490 with two-tone paint.
The Tivoli is also available in more spacious XLV form with additional boot space from $31,990 to $35,490 drive-away.
Families keen on more room can try the seven-seat Rexton, which is available with two-wheel-drive traction and a 165kW petrol engine priced from $39,990 drive-away, or a 133kW/400Nm diesel engine which drives all four wheels for $46,990 drive-away.
A reborn Musso ute represents the fourth element of the range, bringing a three-tonne towing capacity, 133kW/400Nm diesel engine and autonomous emergency braking from $30,490 drive-away.
Customers who want more kit, including an automatic transmission, 18-inch alloys, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert and other safety systems can get the ELX for $35,990 drive-away.
The range-topping Musso Ultimate adds a 360-degree camera, heated and cooled leather seats, a sunroof and 20-inch alloys for $39,990 drive-away.
