Smart promises guilt-free topless fun with an electric roadster concept for the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
Describing the ForEase concept as an “unconventional beauty”, Smart says the emissions-free roadster serves up “a carefree driving experience, freed from convention, yet in harmony with its surroundings”.
Based on the convertible Smart ForTwo Roadster, the concept brings a cut-down windscreen and double-bubble rear tonneau similar to Porsche’s 911 Speedster concept.
A reworked interior features digital displays synced to smartphones, along with a race-like open-topped steering wheel.
As with all new Smart models, power comes from an electric motor - Smart plans to be the first mainstream brand to make a complete switch to electric power.
Potential production versions are unlikely to reach Australia, as Mercedes-Benz’ local arm dropped the brand due to slow sales and difficulty securing the new model for a competitive price.
But Smart may return in the future as an electric-only concern.
