Renault has locked in Australian prices and specifications for the 2018 Alpine A110 coupe, positioning it between two-seat rivals in the Lotus Elise and Porsche Cayman.

Priced from $106,500 plus on-road costs, the Alpine A110 Premiere Edition neatly splits Lotus’ $97,990 Elise Cup 250 and Porsche’s $118,100 718 Cayman.

Limited to 60 examples in Australia, the Premiere Edition features metallic blue paint exclusive to the first batch of models, along with 18-inch Fuchs wheels, a Focal stereo system, Brembo brakes and lightweight Sabelt seats as standard.

Most of those features - except the seats - are optional extras on the cheapest Alpine, a Pure model priced from $97,000 plus on-road costs.

Customers with an eye for luxury can snap up the Alpine Legende, which brings more comfortable heated and leather-trimmed seats, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, carbon fibre interior trim and retro-styled 18-inch wheels for $103,500 plus on-road costs.

All three models are powered by a detuned version of the 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbo engine offered in the upcoming Renault Megane RS 280.

The mid-mounted engine produces 185kW of power and 320Nm of torque, sending drive to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Though those numbers sound modest, the Alpine’s impressively slim 1094kg kerb weight gives it a power-to-weight ratio between Ford’s 257kW Focus RS and BMW’s 272kW M2 Coupe - and the ability to reach 100km/h in 4.5 seconds.

On sale in Premiere form in the fourth quarter of 2018 before the Pure and Legende arrive in early 2019, the Alpine will be available through an exclusive range of dealerships currently limited to just one outlet in Brighton, Victoria.
