When buying a Lamborghini, what's an extra $60,000 between friends?
In the case of purchasing a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder, that extra cash gets the performance turned all the way up as it puts you in one of the Italian marque's fastest-ever machines.
The supercar maker has released Australian pricing for its latest hotted-up vehicle - the Huracan Spyder Performante - which will cost $532,635 before on road costs. This price commands a premium of just over $60,000 compared to the standard $470,800 Huracan Spyder.
Lamborghini's race-bred drop-top was recently revealed at the 2018 Geneva motor show and followed on from the Huracan Performante coupe variant released last year. The Coupe variant set a record for the fastest production car around the Nurburgring with a time of 6m52s, which has since been beaten by the manic Porsche 911 GT2 RS's time of 6m47s.
While the Spyder variant hasn't been seen rocketing around the vaunted track it features the same aerodynamic and mechanical upgrades as its performance sibling.
A 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 petrol engine has been tweaked to produce 470kW and 600Nm, an increase of 21kW and 40Nm compared to a regular Huracan. It retains the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive set-up.
The Performante Spyder has a top speed of 325km/h and can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 3.1 seconds – which puts it up there as one of the fastest cars in a straight line.
Lamborghini has also added a range of active aerodynamic features like a large rear wing and front wing to reduce drag and increase downforce.
