Lister Motor Company has begun taking preliminary orders for the world’s fastest SUV.

The British maker has based its LFP super SUV on the Jaguar F-Pace but will eclipse the regular leaping cat in every measure.

Though yet to reveal full details, the maker says that the car will feature carbon-fibre body parts, superior road handling and produce 500kW on the dot from what will likely be a tuned version of JLR’s supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine.

“Today we released plans to build the world’s fastest SUV. The Lister LFP will be based on the Jaguar F-Pace and have 670bhp and be capable of over 200mph. Preliminary orders now being taken,” the brand said in its Facebook announcement.

That top speed is the equivalent of over 322km/h in metric terms – more than 17km/h faster than the Lamborghini Urus and 32km/h above what the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is capable of.

It will also fly off the line, shuttling from a standstill to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.

Lister CEO Lawrence Whittaker expects its largest model yet to be just as successful as the recent F-Type-based LFT-666 supercar.

“I am delighted, overwhelmed and gratified by the huge level of interest, excitement and orders our LFT-666 supercar has already generated in just a few months,” he said.

"Based on early indications, our new LFP promises to repeat the success of the LFT-666, and I really can’t wait to reveal the world’s fastest SUV quite soon."

The British maker says interest is strong and preliminary orders have already commenced for the $250,000 family bus, with deliveries expected to start this October.
