Lexus is making waves in a new area of luxury motoring.

The brand’s first production maritime venture, the LY 650 yacht, takes inspiration from its luxury car range as well as the 42-foot high-performance concept yacht unveiled last year.

The 65-foot (19.96 metres) vessel will make its global debut later this year, with the first yacht expected to be complete by the second half of 2019.

Based in the US, bespoke boat building company Marquis-Larson Boat Group has been selected by Lexus to build, sell and service the cruisers.

The yacht’s sleek roofline is testament to the design inspiration taken from the brand’s luxury car range.

Powered by Volvo maritime engines, the LY 650 sleeps six people and boasts three separate staterooms.

The boat becomes the fourth flagship in the Lexus range, sitting alongside the LS sedan, LX SUV and LC coupe.
