Jaguar reveals F-Type Chequered Flag
Jaguar is celebrating 70 years of sports car heritage with a new limited-edition F-Type.
Cementing itself as a sports car maker when it debuted the XK120 roadster - the world’s fastest production car for a time – at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948, Jaguar has revealed the limited edition Chequered Flag F-Type which receives decorative enhancements on a mild model-year update.
Available in both coupe and convertible bodystyle and in only Caldera red, Fuji white or Carpathian grey paint, the limited-edition model receives a unique set of black 20-inch alloys over red-painted brake callipers and running along the sides of the car are SVO-sourced side sills.
Inside, the seats are finished in Windsor leather with contrasting red or grey stitching, and the headlining is made from the same black suede material as the steering wheel, further highlighted by a red noon marker up top. The centre console is finished in dark aluminium trim and Chequered Flag emblems can be found on the headrests and tread plates.
Both Coupe and Convertible are available with an eight-speed automatic mated to one of three engine choices: a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol producing 221kW and 400Nm, or a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 developing either 250kW and 450Nm or 280kW and 460Nm – the latter available in rear- and all-wheel-drive.
The Chequered Flag edition lands as part of a greater 2019 model year update to the F-Type range that brings a larger 10-inch Touch Pro infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and reversing camera and parking assistant as standard equipment.
The F-Type R Coupe and Convertible receive further changes to the suspension taken from the latest SVR model that include a more sophisticated upper ball joint and revised dampers that are 24 per cent softer and improve ride comfort.
