Before he begins to hunt for a spot on the podium this weekend Daniel Ricciardo is looking to celebrate a win for charity.
The Australian F1 ace is putting his own Aston Martin V8 Vantage S Red Bull Racing Special Edition Roadster under the gavel on Thursday March 22 ahead of the opening of the 2018 Formula 1 Grand Prix at Albert Park on the weekend.
Proceeds of the sale over reserve will be donated to the Racing for MNDi Foundation, a charity dedicated to research into the inherited form of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
More than 2000 Australians suffer from the incurable disease which can strike anyone and recently claimed one of its longest survivors, Stephen Hawking.
Ricciardo will host the evening event and keen buyers are required to register their interest prior to bidding.
A collector’s car, the special RBR edition Vantage was released in 2017 in limited supply that quickly sold out. Only 17 made it to Australia and all were personally signed by Ricciardo.
Powered by a naturally-aspirated 4.7-litre V8 producing 321kW and 490Nm the car was available in either Mariana Blue or Tungsten Silver that was finished with ascents inspired by Red Bull’s racing livery inside and out.
Riccirado’s machine is finished in Tungsten Silver with red brake callipers, Red Bull embossed head rests, carbon fibre interior trim inserts and leather steering wheel with yellow 12 o’clock marker.
Aston Martin’s regional manager for Australia and New Zealand, Kevin Wall, said interest was already high and believes the auction will be a good result towards helping progress of MND research.
“We are proud to partner with Daniel Ricciardo in donating proceeds of the auction of his V8 Vantage S Red Bull Racing Special Edition Roadster to a very special charity, Racing for MNDi Foundation. We hope the funds donated from our upcoming auction event will help support and accelerate the Foundation’s very important work,” he said.
“We have already received strong interest in the vehicle to be auctioned, and urge further interested parties to quickly register their interest.”
Interested bidders are required to registered prior to auction and can contact Kristian Dewsnap on 03 8866 3111 or [email protected] for further information.
