Cars that get the most clicks
A new report has revealed the car brands people are most interested in per country.
Data from Google searches over the last 12 months has revealed the most looked-up car brands, and in most cases it’s the cars built in other countries that strike the most interest.
In Europe, Mercedes-Benz is the most clicked, followed closely by VW, BMW and Hyundai.
Asian countries also appear to prefer German cars, with Mercedes-Benz and BMW getting the most Google searches.
BMW wins most searches in several countries including Japan, South Korea, Israel and Palestine, while India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and the Maldives are googling Lamborghini the most.
The report also reveals the highly congested areas of Cambodia and the Phillipines could be why SMART cars are the most popular search.
Tesla holds the top spot in North America where more than two million searches in the US and Canada occur each month.
Hyundai, Lamborghini and Toyota also sit high in North America’s search history.
Down in South America, Hyundai is most popular overall, with countries such as Brazil and Argentina looking up Honda and Volkswagen.
In smaller South American nations, super cars are more popular. McLaren and Lamborghini are most searched in places like the Falklands, Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago.
In Africa, Toyota gets the most clicks, with 26 countries including Zambia, Chad, Somalia and Gabon searching the Japanese car brand the most. BMW and Mercedes-Benz come in as second and third most popular, while South Africa searches Hyundai the most.
Back home in Oz, Toyota takes the cake, or lamington, for most searched car brand, while our New Zealand neighbours prefer a more environmentally friendly option in Tesla.
